9 reasons why you should date a journalist

Recently, I read an article entitled "8 reasons why you shouldn't date a journalist", and I found myself disagreeing with almost all of the points. Journalists are great to be around, right? Why wouldn't you want to date us? We have many redeeming factors, so I thought I'd share 9 of the best.

1. You'll never have to worry that we aren't listening to you. Trust me, we're nosy buggers. We're listening to every word you say.

2. We're a wealth of random knowledge we've picked up from the numerous articles we've written/read. Ideal teammate for a pub quiz.

3. We're also a great source of gossip within the field we write for, so there's never a dull conversation.

4. Press passes sometimes come our way. This means we can enjoy entertainment for half the price as we only need to pay for one ticket between us, and we can have a cheap date. Occasionally, we even might have +1s on our passes and we may invite you.

5. If you ask nicely, we'll proof-read and fix your essays/emails/Linkedin profile before you submit them. And we'll actually enjoy doing it.

6. If your career is in a need of a boost, we can write an article about you and your work for a publication or our own blog to make it look like you're more famous than you are and to give you brownie points with your boss.

7. We remember everything. You'll never forget your Mum's birthday or a dentist appointment again.

8. You can actually have an educated debate with us about current affairs, and we'll be 100% clued up on what's going on.

9. You'll know we aren't money-obsessed, because it's unlikely that we'll ever have a decent salary as a journalist.

Of course, there are countless reasons why we're excellent; I haven't even gotten into our time-management or multi-tasking skills yet. We're generally just good people; I'm sure you agree.
