Life after exams

the stress is nearly over

In approximately 24 hours, my final exam of 3rd year of university will be over (if I don't need any resits) and that thought is both relieving and terrifying.

I'm hoping to spend next year working abroad and if everything goes to plan, I will not be sitting exams for the first time in 7 years.

That in itself is a bizarre thought. I've gotten used to studying through the Easter holidays from school/university and I've accepted that I don't see my friends outside of the library for a good month every year. Other students will be able to relate, but I don't really know what I'm going to do with my time next year if it doesn't involve studying.

I'm looking forward to being exam-free, but the summer won't be entirely free of stress. I'll be working lots of shifts to try and save up so that moving abroad is actually viable. I also have to plan the whole actually moving thing, ha.

Although summer will be kind of stressful and kind of busy, I'll actually have free time again. I'll be able to take extra shifts or watch Netflix without feeling guilty about not having studied enough. It's a weird feeling, especially knowing that I'll have consistent free time for the next year.

The biggest motivation for today is knowing that if I pass everything first-time, I won't have to go near the Strathclyde library for the foreseeable future. I've lost a good half of my soul this year in Floor 1 alone and I never want to visit a "silent" area ever again.

At 4 o'clock tomorrow, I'll be able to say au revoir to third year. It went very quickly and it wasn't very fun; I've never been more glad to say goodbye to an academic year.

I'm going to get back to studying the American Community Power Debate (it's as riveting as it sounds), but I'm glad I took a lil' 15 minutes to type these feelings out. Life after exams is a concept that I still haven't wrapped my head around, but I'm looking forward to rediscovering what doing "nothing" is like.

Good luck to anyone who still has exams! We can do this! *insert muscular arm emoji*
