Dogs, dogs and more dogs | Blogmas Day 3

A very exciting cafe opened in Lille at the end of November. So exciting that I'm dedicating a whole post to it because, if you live in or ever visit Lille, you need to stop by.

"Le Waf" in Vieux Lille is one-of-a-kind in Europe. Cat cafes are a current trend around the continent; where you can eat and drink while playing with cats. Le Waf has a slightly different concept - instead of cats, you cuddle with dogs.

The idea of a dog cafe was very exciting for a large number of us, who all love anything dog related. So a couple of Wednesdays ago, eight language assistants all went along to see what the fuss was about.

There were tears. There was laughter. There were lots of puppy kisses.

Le Waf has a system which works flawlessly. You are given a piece of paper with your entry time, and you pay for how long you stay. This includes unlimited puppy cuddles and free unlimited soft drinks, teas and coffees, with an option to pay for snacks (which must be eaten in a separate room away from the dogs). On our first trip, we stayed for two hours, and left feeling very relaxed and free of stresses, for the bargain price of 10€.

There are 9 dogs at Le Waf and all of them are very cuddly. The smallest dogs are always keen to be scooping up onto your lap for attention whereas the bigger dogs prefer to fall asleep at your feet. My personal favourite is Ewok, a tiny scruffy dog (you'll see Jess cuddling him in the photos below). A lot of the dogs are owned by the owner of Le Waf but some are up for adoption - if only I could take Ewok home with me for Christmas!

Again, I'll leave you with photos because, let's face it, the dogs are adorable. I've now visited Le Waf three times and I'll be returning soon. I'm already planning to take my brother when he's here in a couple of weeks.

Check back everyday at 6pm GMT until Christmas for a new Blogmas post!
